History in our own backyard.
A learning network that brings New Jersey’s young people face to face with the people, places, and movements that shaped their communities.
Season 1 coming Summer 2027
Junior History LeagueHow it works
Built for after-school programs, summer camps, township recreation programs, and camps run by historic sites. Six episodes fit a six-week summer session or a school-based learning unit.
Each episode visits one place and tells one story: a historic site, a neighborhood, a place of worship, a street corner where something changed.
WatchEvery episode comes with ready-to-teach activities that turn watching into doing: interviewing, mapping, building, and creating.
ExploreYoung people become the experts. They interview elders, explore their neighborhoods, and share what they learn with family and friends, building confidence, communication skills, and a deeper sense of belonging in their community.
LeadWhat’s in a season
Six short episodes, each one visiting a single place and telling a single story
A facilitator guide for every episode that anyone can lead, with no history degree required
Hands-on activities for every episode, designed for elementary and middle school ages
Connections to New Jersey’s social studies standards, so the learning counts wherever it happens
Season 1: Now Selecting Places
We’re looking for six New Jersey places with stories that deserve a wider audience. They might be historic sites, community organizations, congregations, or neighborhoods- anywhere community history lives, whether it’s held in an archive, painted on a mural, or passed down from one generation to the next.
